Mountaineer Casino Racetrack & Resort is located in the northern panhandle of West Virginia. There are about 1,000 slot and video poker machines and 32 table games. There is also a sportsbook, race book, and live horse racing on the property.
We had a great experience at Mountaineer Casino. I played some Spanish 21 that stands on all 17’s. Every employee and patron that we encountered was very friendly. This was the theme for our West Virginia casino tour.

Mountaineer Casino
The 1,000 slot machines are mostly penny or reels. Some are video poker using lottery machines and pay tables. Denominations are quarter and dollar. The best game that we found was 6/5 Bonus Poker in the $1 denomination. There are no video poker variants; all games are traditional single-hand versions on lottery Pick N Play or Game King machines.
Mountaineer Casino table games
Most table games at Mountaineer Casino are blackjack. There are three types of these games. The six and eight-deck games allow doubling down before and after splitting, surrender, and re-splitting aces. The dealer stands on soft 17 at both games. The six-deck table does not allow mid-deck entry. The eight-deck minimum bet is generally $10 or $15, while the six-deck game is $25.
Spanish 21 is also available at Mountaineer Casino. The dealer stands on all 17’s, which is rare for Spanish 21 games. This game uses eight decks, and it had a $15 minimum when I played it on a Sunday afternoon. (The dealer said it can be $10 when it is slow.) Every table game on the floor had a $15 minimum bet during our visit.
The other table games are double zero roulette, craps, Three Card Poker, Four Card Poker, Texas Hold’em Bonus, Let it Ride, and Mississippi Stud. These games were $15 minimum during our visit, when the casino was busy. We predict that you will find them to often be $10, maybe even $5.
Craps odds are 10 times. The field pays double on 12.
Caesars Sportsbook
Caesars Sportsbook, previously William Hill, operates the sportsbook at Mountaineer Casino. It takes bets on a variety of sports including football, basketball, baseball, hockey, golf, tennis, auto racing, and boxing. The betting menu at Caesars Sportsbook is larger than most other West Virginia sportsbooks. It opens at 11:30am on weekends and at 1:30pm on weekdays. It closes daily at 8:30pm.
Caesars Sportsbook offers one of the largest betting menus in the world with its parlay, teaser, and pleaser cards. It also accepts straight bets, futures, and prop bets.
